Our Expert Presenters
Dr. Jorge Piña
Metapoet, coach, digital nomad and psychoanalyst in private practice in New York and Florida. Expert on men in a committed relationship. Creator, 34 years ago, of the International Metapoetry Movement Inc. In 1982 he founded the Dominican Psychoanalytic Movement. He has published 6 Metapoetry books and 8 more books for MetaStudio Press of the International Metapoetry Movement Inc. He is a doctor of medicine and a clinical and educational psychologist from the Dominican Republic. He has a master’s degree in psychoanalytic studies from the New School for Social Research in New York, and has doctoral studies from the Boston Graduate School for Psychoanalysis (BGSP) in Massachusetts. He is currently the President of Hispanic Mental Health Counseling PLLC, CURA100, the global mental health supergroup with a newly created clinical & educational platform of licensed mental health counselors, mental health providers, psychotherapists and psychoanalyst in New York, New Jersey, Florida. And Las Vegas, Nevada with the structure to reach 33-states and 1000 mental health clinicians as the UNIVERSAL MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELORS GROUP PLLC. Dr. Jorge Piña lives in Florida with the poet and psychotherapist Karina Rieke, and her two children Kamilo and Kamila, both current college students of psychology, sociology and philosophy.
Dr. Karina Reike
She is a poet, painter, and essayist. Dr. Reike has a master’s degree in mental health from Manhattan College and she works as a licensed psychotherapist and clinical director in New York City at Hispanic Mental Health Counseling, PLLC. Dr. Reike is also an adjunct professor at John Jay College in the Department of Psychology where she has taught since 2015 on the subjects of psychopathology, psychology of personality, applied social psychology, group dynamics, psychology of addiction, and substance abuse. Prior to this, Dr. Karina Reike obtained her B.A. in fine arts in 2001. Dr. Reike is also an athlete and a running coach, certified by the RRCA & USATF Level 1 & 2.
Dr. Ramón Blandino
Ramón is a licensed mental health counselor, a marriage and family therapist and a dedicated and highly skilled Senior Manager, with over 35 years in mental health organizations in the areas of program development and supervisory experience. Ramón utilizes his backgrounds in financial, operational, clinical theory and practice, and non-profit management to design, prepare, review, and implement innovative programs. Ramón has extensive knowledge of the NY State Office of Mental Health (OMH), NY City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), U.S Housing and Urban Development-SHP (HUD) systems and regulations. He was a Peer Reviewer for the Federal Government Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration (SAHMSA) to review grant applications in homelessness, HIV/AIDS, mental health, and substance abuse related areas. His positions have ranged from clinical supervisors, Assistant Vice President of Mental Health Programs, Executive Deputy, Deputy Director, Program Director, Grant Reviewer, Psychotherapist and Researcher. Ramón has extensive training and education in the Mental Health field - including a Post Graduate Certificate in Mental Health and Aging from Adelphi Univ., Advanced Professional Training in Analytical Psychology from the C.G. Jung Institute of NY , Structural Family Therapy Training from The Minuchin Center for the Family, A Certificate in Health Care Management from NYU and A Certificate in Addiction Counseling from the New School. He is bilingual in English and Spanish and a certified runner coach, level 1 and 2.
Ms. Rosaura Vanreil
Rosaura chose to dedicate herself to a career in mental health counseling stemming from her desire to help others in the most unique and innovative way possible. Rosaura earned a master's degree in mental health counseling from Alfred University. She has an M.A. in bilingual special education teaching from Adelphi University(2005), an M.A. in school administration from the College of Saint Rose(2000), and a B.A. in elementary education from Medgar Evers College in 1992. In addition, she has obtained several mental health treatment modality certifications including cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and psychotherapy, as well as certifications for the treatment of depression, anxiety, and stress. Rosaura is bilingual and speaks English and Spanish and she believes in the holistic approach to treating every individual.
Ms. Rosa Saldana
Rosa Saldana is a creative, passionate, and highly versatile professional with over three decades of experience across administration, coaching, and education. Ms. Saldana has spent 31 years dedicated to the New York City Department of Education, and for the past 18 years, she has served as the President and CEO of PROMECIN Networks. As a business leader, Ms. Saldana has actively participated in the Latino Business Action Network at Stanford University's Graduate School of Business, where she achieved first place in her cohort. Since2008, her business has been a NYC certified minority-owned enterprise. In her educational and administrative career, Ms. Saldana has held roles at the city, regional, and school levels. Ms. Saldana holds permanent licenses as a School and District Administrator in both New York City and New York State, as well as licenses for teaching in bilingual and monolingual settings for grades Pre-K through 6. Her academic qualifications include a Master of Science in School Leadership and Supervision from Mercy College, an advanced ESL certification from Manhattanville College, a Master’s in Bilingual Education, and a Bachelor of Science in Education with a minor in Computer Science from City College of New York—all completed with honors. Currently, she is pursuing a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling at Manhattan College, with an expected graduation date of May 2025.
Ms. Kara Marie Uzun
Kara Marie Uzun holds a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology and Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communication from Towson State University. She is currently a Mental Health Counselor-LP at Hispanic Mental Health Counseling, PLLC, where she works with individuals, couples, children, and groups using a person-centered and cognitive behavioral approach. In addition to counseling, Kara plays a key role in program development, serving as the Chief Marketing Officer and Initiative Coordinator for CURA100. She also leads and oversees programming for the Women’s Group at Hispanic Mental Health Counseling, PLLC. She works under the supervision of Dr. Jorge Piña, the organization's President and CEO. Previously, Kara worked as a middle school counselor at The Center School and West End Secondary School in Manhattan. She is an active member of the New York Mental Health Counselors Association (NYMHCA). Recognized for her compassion, dedication, and open-mindedness, Kara has lived in Manhattan for the past 25 years and currently works remotely from Turkey.
Ms. Evelyn Fonseca
Evelyn Fonseca is a recent graduate of Niagara University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Sociology and graduated Cum Laude with a 3.55 GPA in May 2024. Currently, she holds the position as Coordinator and Billing Specialist for the CURA100 initiative developed by the Hispanic Mental Health Counseling PLLC. Throughout her academic journey, she had the privilege of collaborating with a Clinical Psychologist and Professor on an honors thesis through the Departmental Honors Program. Her research was presented at various prestigious conferences, including the Eastern Psychological Association’s annual convention and the NU Undergraduate Research Conference. She also completed a 200-hour internship with the Niagara Alliance for Restorative Practices, where she facilitated restorative circles and worked alongside a school psychologist to support underfunded schools. She is committed to advancing her education and plans to pursue a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling. She is recognized for her compassion, interpersonal skills, diligence, and dedication to the field of psychology. Currently, she resides in the Greater Chicago area.
Dr. Juan Carlos Medina
He possesses many years of working experience as a counselor therapist that includes the following areas Depression, Anxiety Disorders, Bipolar Disorders, Eating Disorders, Bereavement, Substance use and abuse, adjustment disorders. He has worked with children, teenagers, adolescents, adults, and older adults. He has experience working with the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5). His strength as a counselor includes working with adolescents in Individual Counseling, as well as Family/Group/Couples Counseling.
Mr. Andy Jimenez
Andy Jimenez is the Founder and CEO of RunFitt, a company focused on helping women achieve their health and fitness goals through running. Running has been a part of Andy’s life for as long as he can remember, and he has competed in everything from 5Ks to marathons. Andy is a certified Running Coach with the (RRCA) Road Runners Club of America and he is a certified Stretch and Flexibility Coach with (NACM) National Academy of Sports Medicine. Andy’s coaching philosophy is centered around personalized training plans that are tailored to each individual's unique needs and abilities. Andy takes the time to get to know his clients and understand what they want to achieve, and then he creates a plan that will challenge them while also being realistic and achievable. In addition to coaching, Andy loves to share his knowledge and expertise with others. He regularly posts video blogs on Youtube on topics related to running, and he’s always happy to answer questions and offer advice to anyone who is interested in improving their health and fitness through running.
Evelin Mateo
Evelin Mateo is a highly experienced clinical psychologist with a distinguished career spanning various fields of mental health. She earned her Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo in 1994. She holds an Advanced Certificate in Mental Health Counseling from Manhattan College (USA). Her professional development includes certifications in Conflict Management and Domestic Violence (PACAM), Family Counseling for Leaders (IMAFA), Couples and Sexual Therapy (ASODOPSI), among others. She is currently pursuing further expertise in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) through ALAMOC and ADTCC. With extensive experience, Evelin has worked as a juvenile court psychologist in Santo Domingo, a school psychologist in San Cristóbal, and a family therapist for court-mandated juvenile cases in New York City. She has also provided therapy for immigrant minors. A dedicated mental health advocate, Evelin is an active volunteer with Be Positive Digital Psychology, L.A.C.A. Chaplains, and the Hispanic Association of Health Professionals. She frequently collaborates with Univision 41 NY and is a guest speaker at community health fairs and wellness programs. Currently, she offers psychological services through the International Training and Psychological Therapy Center and Hispanic Mental Health Counseling, LLC. Her work focuses on behavior modification, positive parenting, stress management, depression, anxiety, self-esteem, and personal development.
